Get ready for an epic adventure on the Train des Merveilles, or the Train of Wonders! We'll meet bright and early at 8 am at the Nice Ville train station. Say goodbye to the sea and hello to the majestic French Alps as we embark on a historic journey through the Alpes-Maritimes.
Our route, known as the Baroque and Salt Route, will take us through medieval villages bursting with chapels, churches, and monasteries. These villages were also key players in the salt trade of southern France.
As we chug along the railroad, get ready to witness impressive viaducts and tunnels that showcase the brilliance of French civil engineering from the early 20th century. We'll make pit stops in charming towns like Saorge, Tende, and Sospel, where you can soak up the fresh mountain air and indulge in local cuisine during your free time.
After exploring these hidden gems, it's time to hop back on the Train of Wonders for our return journey to Nice. We'll arrive at Nice Ville station between 6 pm and 8 pm, depending on which train we catch.
